For the past five years, Dave Snow has been responsible for overseeing Home Learning College’s tutoring staff, relationships with academic partners and development of all course content. Prior to this he was head of programme development in the home study arm of Manchester Business School, and he has also held the position of Director of Qualifications and Operations at the National Computing Centre (NCC) Education.
Until 16th April, students enrolling on selected courses with Home Learning College can gain an extra professional qualification thanks to a new promotion. The distance learning specialist is offering a free Business Management course or Social Media Marketing with any accounting, bookkeeping, IT, web design or marketing study programme.
Home Learning College’s Certificate in Business Management is accredited by EDI, the biggest vocational course provider in the UK. EDI works with a range of high profile brands, including Virgin and Sainsbury’s, to deliver in-house training programmes. The Business Management course comes with one year’s unlimited tutorial support and helps develop organisational and management skills.
The Certificate in Social Media Marketing is a new course, released in January 2012. It comes with six months tutorial support and counts towards 30 of the 35 continuing professional development (CPD) hours required annually by professionals holding CIM Chartered Marketer status. This course teaches the use of social networks for marketing purposes and how to apply a social media marketing strategy.
All Home Learning College distance learning courses allow people to study from home and fit their course around their current lifestyle. Students are given access to tutorial support and Home Learning College’s Virtual Learning Community (VLC), featuring forums, digital course materials and online classes. Exam fees are included, plus course literature and membership to relevant awarding bodies*.
“This offer allows students to expand their knowledge of business management or social media in addition to their chosen professional subject,” says Dave Snow, Academic Director at Home Learning College. “These are invaluable skills, which demonstrate versatility and competency.
“Companies are looking for candidates with a broad range of skills and employees who demonstrate this flexibility stand out from the crowd. Students who actively exhibit adaptability, as well as a drive to progress their own professional development, stand the best chance of moving up the career ladder.”
